We believe in the everyday hero. Those who have the courage to follow their passion and who have the strength and determination to realize their dreams.

Small business owners are at the heart of all we do, so we're creating powerful, easy-to-use financial solutions to help them run their businesses. With a founder’s mentality and a 'team-first’ attitude, our diverse teams across Europe, South America and the United States work together to ensure that small business owners can be successful doing what they love.

About The Role

This role leads Core Operations (CoreOps) in LATAM, owning the operational performance and resilience of three core areas: Payments, Non-Payments, and Enablement.

The CoreOps Leader is accountable for ensuring that critical operational processes function reliably, efficiently, and at scale. This includes the end-to-end transaction lifecycle, non-transactional products that complement the core payments offering, and the onboarding and risk processes that enable sustainable growth.

This is a leadership role, not an execution role. The primary responsibility is to set direction, establish clear ownership, and enable teams to perform, ensuring operational stability while supporting the company’s long-term growth and profitability.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and develop a cross-functional CoreOps team, structured around Payments, Non-Payments and Enablement.
  • Ensure the stability and resilience of own acquiring operations, including settlement, payouts, and reconciliation.
  • Be accountable for payout execution, ensuring funds are delivered on time, predictably, and with minimal manual intervention.
  • Oversee operational performance of non-transactional products such as the SumUp Business Account, subscriptions, and electronic invoicing (DTE), ensuring they meet defined quality and reliability standards.
  • Ensure onboarding, activation, and risk processes operate efficiently while complying with evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Establish clear accountability, KPIs, and ownership across the team, enabling autonomy and reducing single points of failure.
  • Partner closely with Finance and Accounting to ensure operational costs, settlements, and reconciliation are accurately reflected in financial reporting and P&L.
  • Collaborate with Support, Customer Success, Acquisition, Compliance, Product, and Engineering teams to align operational execution with business priorities.
  • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to regional initiatives, including cross-market operational synergies and shared operating models.

What You’ll Need

Must Have
  • Proven experience leading teams in complex operational environments.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to delegate ownership, build trust, and drive execution through others.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working across Operations, Finance, Accounting, Compliance, Engineering or Commercial teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, high-impact environments and prioritize across multiple critical workstreams.
Nice to Have
  • Solid understanding of the payments industry at a conceptual and operational level (e.g. acquiring, payment flows, settlement), sufficient to make informed decisions without starting from zero.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services operations.
  • Exposure to non-payments products such as digital accounts, subscriptions, invoicing, or lending.
  • Experience working in regional or multi-market setups, particularly in LATAM.
  • Familiarity with regulatory or onboarding-related operational processes.
