Who We Are
The Data Platform team is responsible for building and maintaining the scalable, high-performance data infrastructure that powers Toast's analytical capabilities. We're a team of data enthusiasts who are passionate about leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive business insights and decision-making. Our focus is on creating data products for other Toasters to leverage, and we're looking for an enthusiastic engineer to realize that vision.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Use the data infrastructure to build and deliver meaningful data to our customers
- Work closely with a small group of engineers across a broad spectrum of projects.
- Drive the evolution of our data architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability
- Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, inclusivity, and engineering excellence
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes through data-driven insights
- Set a high bar for code quality, testing, and documentation, ensuring our data solutions meet the highest standards
- Build and maintain strong partnerships across lines of business, aligning technical solutions with strategic objectives
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- Strong experience working with SQL on complex datasets is a must for this role
- Very strong knowledge of an application programming language, such as Java, Python, Javascript.
- Strong experience working within the data analysis ecosystem on top of platforms such as Spark, Iceberg, Databricks, or Snowflake.
- Strong knowledge of microservice based architecture operating at scale, preferably in a cloud environment such as AWS.
- Experience with Java, Groovy, Kotlin or JVM-based language is a plus.
- Experience with Apache Iceberg, Apache Druid, Apache Flink is a plus.
**This is a hybrid role requiring two days per week in our Dublin office**
