The Technical Program Management team is responsible for devising, implementing, and improving the processes (and associated tools) that help MongoDB engineers succeed in making MongoDB the best database software possible.

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will own processes across the engineering department, ensuring teams proceed smoothly from ideation through to release and during every step in between.  This position is remote-friendly within the East Coast of the United States. As the TPM for the Cluster to Cluster team in our Server department, you’ll be working with the engineering teams who build standalone tooling to support MongoDB’s data movement workflow ultimately helping aid our customer's scale and migrate their workloads.

This role can be based out of our New York City office or remotely.

The right candidate for this role will be:
  • Experienced with 3+ years working in an Engineering organization, whether in a program/project management, development or administrative role.
  • Able to maintain a strategic view of our software engineering process even while executing on the minutiae of everyday development.
  • Skilled at communicating with a diverse set of engineers and their stakeholders (also engineers).
  • Hyper-organized and capable of juggling all of the data created by work across Core Engineering.
  • Knowledgeable of and experienced with implementing agile/Scrum best practices.
  • A role model for effective execution practices, driven by an attuned sense of priority and urgency.
  • Experienced in successfully delivering complex cross-functional projects.
  • Able to appreciate the engineering concepts being discussed, allowing them to facilitate discussion and flesh out the details required to ensure successful delivery.
  • Experienced in gathering process pain points from team members and stakeholders and devising improvements to address them.
  • Trained in working with project tracking software (e.g. Jira, Rally, MS Project).
  • Interested in learning everything about MongoDB.
  • Interested in business automation work such as scripting in Python, Google Apps Script and Slack.
Position Expectations:
  • Maintain and improve the processes that span multiple teams and/or products.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication between 20+ Technical Program Managers spanning 30+ teams.
  • Recognize patterns in a sea of information and take action accordingly.
  • Expand knowledge into new domains as called upon.
  • Act as a steward for the tools that power our engineering operations (including our wiki, project management software, retrospective tool, etc).
Success Measures:
  • In 3 months you’ll have fully ramped on the teams and common processes of Core Engineering.
  • In 6 months you’ll have successfully collaborated with peer TPMs across several high-impact projects.
  • In 12 months you’ll have identified and improved our cross-cutting documentation, projects, and processes.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$104,000—$204,000 USD
