Along with 20,000+ volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozilla Corporation’s staff are driven by our vision of becoming the trusted guide to a joyful internet. We design, build and distribute software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.

The Opportunity:

As a Senior Illustrator on our Firefox user experience team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the visual language of our product. You’ll work alongside a cross functional group to build illustrations that tell a story for product features, evoke emotions or actions, and simplify complex information. You’ll have the opportunity to build on a unique illustration style and get your work in front of millions of users on mobile and desktop.

Your work will be instrumental in telling our product’s story, making sophisticated ideas understandable, and creating a visually cohesive experience for our users.

Moreover, as our product is used globally, your illustrations will be seen by a diverse audience. This presents a unique opportunity to build designs that are culturally sensitive, inclusive, and accessible.

This role is right for you if:

  • Have strong design execution skills, including drawing, composition, and graphic design, along with a knowledge of art styles and trends.
  • You’re passionate about building on existing illustration styles and exploring new styles when needed.
  • You work well to independently scope out, prioritize, and create illustration concepts and final vector illustrations.
  • You are open to collaboration with cross functional partners on illustration ideas concepts.
  • You have experience documenting illustration guidelines and standards.
  • You have a portfolio of product illustration work.
  • You’re experienced with digital illustration tools such as Illustrator, Procreate, and Figma.
  • You are driven by helping people, problem-solving, and working in an organization that supports a mission to ensure the internet is a global public resource. Additionally, this job is for you if you consider yourself a creative worker, a forward-thinking and open problem solver, and passionate about working toward just and equitable solutions for varied communities.

Nice to have:

  • Motion design and animation experience within illustrations.
  • Given the design and interactive nature of this work, you should have experience or eagerness to work remotely across time zones on design and creative activities.

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Brainstorm with UX designers, content designers, product managers, and engineers about illustration ideas.
  • Be responsible for formulating concepts and sketching draft illustrations from written words, models, sketched ideas, and from your imagination.
  • Prepare and create illustrations for different themes and device types using vector illustrations.
  • Improve visual concepts using Firefox color palettes and design standards.
  • Suggest best practices and optimizations throughout design projects.
  • Work with a team on crafting illustrations for experimentation as well as final production assets.
  • Implement feedback and changes whenever needed.
  • QA illustrations with engineers as they are added to the product.
  • Document illustration guidelines and standards that are established.
