Our Opportunity:Chewy is looking for a Software Engineer I to join the Fulfillment and Logistics technology team in Seattle, WA. We’re seeking Software Engineers to help shape the future of our Outbound Services and Technology organization. Engineering plays a critical role in defining and implementing our roadmap. We take the time to understand the “why” before we begin shaping the “how.” We celebrate engineering successes and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement, free from blame. We set high standards for delivering production-ready code by adopting CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment) and DevOps engineering best practices. Our engineers are encouraged to contribute ideas and code to our platform as well as to collaborate with partner teams.

What You’ll Do:

  • Apply algorithms, data structures, and design patterns to produce efficient and high-performance code.
  • Develop, extend, and debug code within the scope of the team’s existing tools and services.
  • Complete straightforward design and debugging tasks.
  • Identify root causes and implement solutions for bugs and production issues.
  • Contribute to the team’s standard processes for logging, testing, instrumentation, metrics, monitoring, alerts, practices, and procedures.
  • Make meaningful contributions to the team’s existing service architecture, data architecture, DevOps, infrastructure as code, deployment pipelines, and public cloud services as part of a software development team.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and uphold operational excellence.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1+ years of Software Engineering experience, preferably in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience building, deploying, testing APIs and micro services.
  • Experience in Java and frameworks such as Spring Boot for backend service development.
  • Experience with Postgres or other relational databases, including writing queries and tuning performance.
  • Familiarity with source control tools like Git and modern collaboration workflows (e.g., pull requests, code reviews).
  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science or similar technical field of study preferred), or equivalent work experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience in e-commerce, supply chain, fulfillment, transportation, or logistics.
  • Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
  • Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace for application performance tracking, logging, and issue diagnosis.
  • Experience developing CI/CD tools and deployment pipelines used to ship and maintain software in production environments.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations. 

Base Salary Range$102,000—$163,000 USD
