Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Software Engineer  to join our Customer Service Technology Team. The expectations of the prospective candidate will be the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of applications and related integrations. In this role, the ideal candidate will engage in iterative development, testing, and make contributions to the growth and development. This individual will partner with both technical and business teams on multiple initiatives and collaborate to deliver new features and enhancements. 

What you'll do:

  • Play a hands-on role to design, build, test and deploy backend components.
  • Decompose complex problems into simple straight-forward solutions that operationally scale and are easily maintained.
  • Bring industry best practices in terms of technology, process, and design
  • Build a culture of innovation through rapid prototyping and continuous delivery to Production.
  • Collaborate to identify, isolate and resolve malfunctions related to software and Ensure that technical solutions follow best practices, are reliable, easily maintainable and scalable under sustained load.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help  lead medium to complex initiatives independently involving multiple stake holders.

What you'll need:

  • A bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of professional or academic software development experience that includes programming experience with Java 8, Spring, JUnit and back end testing tools.
  • Experience designing and integrating with RESTful/GraphQL APIs
  • Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements and deliver quality code.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and organization skills with ability to balance multiple priorities at a given time.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies(AWS)
  • Experience with CI/CD
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders
  • Must be team oriented and have a customer first mindset
  • Demonstrate use of AI development tools like Cursor and Github co-pilot

Bonus:

  • Masters in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience in e-commerce and/or customer service technology
  • Full stack development experience
  • Familiarity with RAG,MCP and other AI technologies

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations. 

Base Salary Range$120,500—$193,500 USD
