Pinterest is seeking an experienced Senior Communications Manager to join its International Comms team. The role will focus on key markets within the APAC region with particular attention to Australia (a priority market for Pinterest).

As an experienced storyteller the successful candidate will amplify the business story, taking a global company narrative and blending it with local nuances to resonate with multiple external audiences across the region. 

The candidate will be regarded as a key expert in developing strategy and timely responses to protect and promote Pinterest. They will understand how communications supports and adds value to the business, deciding how to prioritize and in doing so, their work will span:

  • Executive profiling/speaker opportunities delivering the global company narrative and well as local business needs - forming trusted counsel to the market’s senior leadership team
  • Business and trade press and events programming promoting Pinterest as an attractive advertising platform, working with x-functional partners including global comms and local marketing teams
  • Policy communications, given the regulatory momentum and its ability to influence the global media stage in Australia, the successful candidate will be experienced in policy and corporate communications. They will be on top of the latest political conversations regarding online safety. This role will require a strong partnership with their counterpart in Policy
  • Consumer communications, identifying and leveraging tentpole moments to promote Pinterest as a destination for inspiration and shopping.

Based in Sydney Australia, the candidate will have a wealth of experience and knowledge about the regional media landscape, having established relationships with influential journalists and emerging influencers. 

 

What you'll do:

  • Creating, owning and executing the regional communications strategy - which ladders up to the global company comms strategy
  • Management of agency partner in Australia (and overseeing agency partner covering Asia) covering consumer, corporate, business, issue and policy comms, including monitoring
  • Direct media relations for any high priority media enquiry
  • Close collaboration with cross-functional teams across the local markets and wider business
  • Supporting the local business team - providing guidance on industry events, leading communication opportunities at events and conferences.
  • As a senior member of the team - the candidate’s experience will be invaluable in mentoring more junior members of the global comms team.
  • Priorisation of work and budget across the region which best reflects business needs

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven track record of holding a senior communications inhouse communications position 
  • 15+ years experience in communications across multiple fields (i.e. consumer, corporate, issues management, policy, b2b)
  • Ability to switch between being hands on to managing agency partners and directing their workloads
  • Team player that isn’t finished learning
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, a related field or equivalent experience

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • As such, this role will need to be in the office or in front of our customers for in-person collaboration, typically 2 to 3 days per week, and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance to our Sydney City based office.
