Sr. Technical Project Manager
We are seeking a dynamic, innovative Sr. Technical Project Manager to drive the technical implementation of several projects across The Points Guy vertical. You will be a key point of contact for a diverse cross-functional team that will look to you for leadership and guidance. This is a highly visible role, offering the opportunity to interact internally and externally across senior levels of the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Work with Software Engineers, Business Leads, and partners to understand the business requirements and translate these requirements into technical/functional specifications. Discover the true requirements underlying feature requests; recommend alternative technical approaches; lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines.
- Balance business needs versus technical constraints. Assertively hold all parties accountable to strategic goals.
- Partner with Engineering leads to coordinate the technical development effort, track/drive the project, and manage the operational implementation process. Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management and make tradeoffs; encourage smart risk-taking behavior to maximize business benefit; identify interdependencies between concurrent projects to prevent downstream problems.
- Understand requirements from partners and guide Red Ventures’ engineering towards implementing functionality that will help our partners meet their strategic goals and compliance obligations.
- Work with the roadmap owners to launch these projects and provide ongoing technical support as appropriate.
- Evangelize within and outside Red Ventures to encourage a fast and smooth adoption of the services; be the primary conduit for gathering requirements for future enhancements; develop demos, sample and technical collateral as required.
- Manage time tracking and software capitalization estimates for work being developed.
- Coordinate meetings with stakeholders and provide updates.
- Assess incoming feature requests and work with engineering teams to determine level of effort.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business priorities and how to prioritize those within our engineering teams sprints.
- Act as Scrum Master/Agile Coach for teams.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience leading large, cross-functional technical projects
- 4+ years of experience working on a software development team (as a dev manager, QA engineer, Scrum Master or TPM) managing projects and writing technical specifications
- Proven experience in managing large scale enterprise projects and writing public technical specifications
- Solid foundation in service-based and web-service technologies to be able to understand service interdependencies and drive towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems
- Possess a thorough understanding of software processes (development, configuration, testing, and deployment)
- Demonstrate maturity, judgment, negotiation/influence skills, analytical skills, leadership skills essential to successful program/project management
- Be a motivated self-starter who is also a team player with great cross-group collaboration skills
- Exhibit excellent oral and communication skills
- Track record of successfully delivering high quality projects on time in a fast-paced/rapidly changing environment
- Detail oriented, yet able to look at a wide array of choices and identify what truly matters
Compensation
Cash Compensation Range: $90,000 - 130,000
New York City Compensation Range: $90,000 - 150,000
*Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
