We are looking for a Staff Database Administrator (DBA) to join the DODO team in our Tech Department.
As a Database Administrator, your mission will be to work on improving and protecting the health of our datastores, which is essential for providing reliable and efficient healthcare services to patients and practitioners. You will be working in a feature team responsible for empowering the whole tech teams to use our datastores in the most efficient way.
Working in the tech team at Doctolib involves building innovative products and features to improve the daily lives of care teams and patients. We work in feature teams in an agile environment, while collaborating with product, design, and business teams.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Empower feature teams on database best practices.
- Help break down our main PostgreSQL database (30TB) into smaller, more scalable databases.
- Keep an eye on query performance and data modeling, and offer recommendations to feature teams on how to optimize it.
- Set up monitoring and alerting to catch performance issues.
- Perform maintenance tasks on our managed databases to enhance stability and improve performance.
- Our solutions are built on a single fully cloud-native platform that supports web and mobile app interfaces, multiple languages, and is adapted to the country and healthcare specialty requirements. To address these challenges, we are modularizing our platform run in a distributed architecture through reusable components.
- Our stack is composed of Rails, TypeScript, Java, Python, Kotlin, Swift, and React Native.

- You have 10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or Engineer with a focus on reliability and scalability.
- You have strong problem-solving skills, especially in identifying and rectifying database performance bottlenecks.
- You have excellent communication skills, enabling efficient transmission of knowledge.
- You have experience in mentoring junior engineers on database performance challenges (queries optimization and best practices).
- You are eager to leverage your experience and skills to make your team and the whole Tech team grow.
- You speak English.
- Have been involved in Architecture choices for high traffic web applications, particularly scalability challenges on large databases.
- Have experience with cloud-based environments and databases such as AWS Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Have experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
- Have experience with Change Data Capture ecosystems & technologies such as Kafka and Debezium.
