Twilio's Emerging Technology and Innovation (ETI) team explores the future of customer engagement by researching and experimenting with artificial intelligence and other cutting edge technology. We dream big, believe in rapid prototyping to test our ideas, work closely and iteratively with customers and developers, and share what we learn with the Twilio community.

We are seeking a strong storyteller who deeply understands developers, and can help us articulate, amplify and contribute to our research. This person would help us live that principle by immersing within the developer community as an ambassador for ETI, and helping get the ETI team’s work in the hands of developers in creative ways. This person would be deeply embedded within the ETI work and will partner closely with our product and engineering teams to help us get our ideas out into the world and gather hands-on feedback. This person would also contribute their own research and provide a point of view on how the developer experience within customer engagement will evolve with emerging technologies.

We want someone who loves working cross-functionally and establishing connective tissue both internally and externally. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including our amazing team of developer evangelists, marketing partners, research and product teams, and other stakeholders. The ETI team is a small group of builders and we often wear many hats. We are seeking someone who is excited to envision the future with us and make developers a core part of the ETI team’s exploration.

  • Drive your own research and points of view on the developer experience surrounding ETI’s work, serving as a core developer voice on the team to champion and influence DX within ETI.
  • Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and other partners to develop effective go-to-market strategies and product positioning
  • Create experiences around the ETI’s portfolio of research and prototypes that inspire developers to build amazing things on the Twilio platform and unlock the future of customer engagement. This could include in-person and virtual customer events like hackathons, live streams, and more.
  • Be responsible for effectively communicating project plans, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Envision and execute our innovation brand, partnering with everyone on the ETI team including engineering, product and design, as well as cross functionally with our Developer Network team, marketing partners, product counterparts, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Twilio ETI team to the developer community, and attend, sponsor, and sometimes speak at in-person events, particularly focused on emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.
  • Ability to drive projects forward independently from inception to completion. This includes outlining key milestones and ensuring they are met within the established deadlines.
  • Help oversee our marketing investment to ensure strong impact and ROI. You will also collaborate on creating internal content to help enable and equip Twilions at large to speak about our work.
