This is a newly created in house role, expanding the European tax team from two to three people. The role has a pure advisory focus, and the new hire will report to the existing Senior Tax Advisor in Europe. The role will involve supporting the transactional activity of all of the firm's business lines in Europe, including Private Equity, Real Estate and Infrastructure. including:

  • Providing tax advisory support in Europe for investment activity, encompassing primaries, secondaries, co-investments, re-caps and direct investments.
  • Supporting transactional and asset management activity of investment vehicles managed by StepStone throughout the investment lifecycle.
  • Advising on the establishment of fund structures within Europe, including both commingled funds and single investor funds.
  • Oversight of tax structuring implemented by underlying GPs.
  • Negotiating legal documentation in relation to tax matters, including fund agreements and offering memoranda.
  • Coordinating with external tax/legal advisors, investment/asset management teams and finance/legal functions.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience as a tax lawyer with a highly recognized law firm or Big 4 or as an in-house tax counsel at major investment funds.
  • Experience of private markets and investment funds in a cross border context
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, high attention to details and finance aspects of tax work.
  • Ability to find commercial solutions to tax technical issues and communicate such solutions to non-tax professionals.
  • Fluent in English
