We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments. About the role We are seeking an engineering manager to shape the technical vision and architecture for our autonomous trucking stack, driving integration with OEM partners and ensuring production readiness to achieve deployment goals in both the US and Japan. In this role, you’ll guide cross-functional teams, oversee project milestones, manage risks, and engage directly with industry executives and regulatory organizations. You’ll also help recruit top talent as the team grows. Join us and play a key role in advancing commercial autonomous trucking solutions on a global scale. At Applied Intuition, you will:- Own and evolve the technical vision and architecture for the autonomous trucking stack.
- Lead technical strategy for the program, covering all aspects of perception, planning, localization, control, and systems integration to meet commercial deployment goals in the US and Japan.
- Collaborate with our partner OEM to ensure seamless integration with vehicle platforms and production readiness.
- Guide cross-functional technical teams in milestone planning, risk management, and technical reviews.
- Serve as a technical ambassador for the program internally and externally, including working with top executives in the trucking industry, and driving regulatory and partner interactions.
- Participate in recruiting efforts to grow the autonomous trucking team with top talent
- 6+ years of industry experience in autonomous vehicles (trucks or cars)
- 2+ years of experience as a technical lead or engineering manager, guiding teams through complex projects.
- Extensive experience architecting and delivering autonomous vehicle systems
- Technical expertise in perception, planning, localization, control, and systems integration for autonomous vehicles
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to represent technical programs to external partners such as industry executives
- Prior experience with commercial deployment of autonomous trucking solutions in the US
- Experience scaling teams and recruiting top technical talent in the autonomy or automotive space
- MS or PhD in robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Japanese language familiarity or experience working with Japanese OEMs
The salary range for this position is $204,000 - $343,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company's compensation practices.
