Role Overview: 

You will have a good understanding of the local grocery business with buying experience for FMCG and fresh categories. You will work closely with the Vendor Management Lead and support the team in range selection, sourcing, pricing, cost and contract negotiation, promotions, merchandising and marketing campaigns. We are looking for an experienced candidate with supplier relationships in the local UAE market. You will be based in our Dubai office (DIFC), where we operate on a hybrid model (three days a week working in the office), and this role will report to the Senior Vendor Manager. 

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Support the Vendor Management lead in selecting a great range of products and set pricing, as per selection and pricing principles.
  • Develop and manage relationships with local and international grocery suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors to ensure favourable terms and service levels.
  • Ensure the right SKUs are nominated for effective and efficient promotional campaigns and events. 
  • Analyse vendor performance and take corrective actions to improve service and quality.
  • Manage vendor compliance and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with the in-stock team to source new products and maintain inventory levels.
  • Resolve vendor-related issues and disputes and escalations 
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify new vendor opportunities.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and implement strategies to optimise vendor management process.
  • Manage the vendors SKU catalog in Deliveroo system and build store facing item data including categorisation and merchandising. 
  • Monitoring SKU performance and optimising the range.
  • Manage the invoice, payment and account reconciliation with the vendors.
  • Monitor competitors range, activity and price lists.
  • Drive media spend with vendors on the platform to promote products and enhance visibility.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in vendor management or buying function within the local grocery market.
  • Good negotiation skills and the ability to build strong partnerships with vendors.
  • Experience in selecting a great range of products and setting pricing as per selection and pricing principles.
  • An analytical and problem-solving mindset used to evaluate vendor performance and identify areas for improvement.Good understanding of grocery market trends and the ability to identify new vendor opportunities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and resolve vendor-related issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing market dynamics.A proactive and results-driven approach to vendor management and procurement.Good knowledge of working on spreadsheets (Excel / Gsheets).

Desirable requirements

  • Experience in international FMCG sourcing and sourcing of fresh categories to cater to diversity of offerings is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of BI and data analytic tools like SQL, Tableau, Power BI, etc would be an added advantage.
