Position Overview

The Investment Operations Vice President will manage transaction execution and drive proactive communications with the deal teams across private equity secondaries, private equity co-investments, venture capital, growth equity, real estate and infrastructure and real assets and enterprise services teams across legal, tax, compliance, fund accounting, performance and analytics reporting and data science and engineering. The velocity of transaction closings and speed of communication requires the person in this position to process information quickly and precisely with frequent reprioritizations to manage efficient, coordinated execution. This role will also be responsible for driving adherence to the Firm’s transaction allocation policy with standardized documented support for all allocation decisions. Staff management and development will be required by this role.

This role will be hands-on and entrepreneurial as it is supporting new dedicated service offerings to stakeholders across the business. The right candidate will be execution oriented and hyper organized and will communicate clearly and frequently as speed and scale will be necessary to drive successful operations across the platform. We are looking for qualified candidates who are energized by white space opportunities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead end-to-end transaction execution processes with deal teams and enterprise services teams (including legal, tax, investor services, finance, compliance) across asset classes and strategies
  • Help design and promote harmonized, scalable deal closing processes across asset classes and strategies
  • Monitor deal pipeline meetings across all asset classes and strategies and prompt proactive communications with deal teams of teams to capture live information in StepStone’s proprietary technology platform SPI
  • Establish shared consciousness through continuous aggregation and distribution of transaction information through SPI
  • Proactively request and share final legal transaction closing packages to internal stakeholders immediately after deals have closed
  • Coordinate with enterprise services teams to operationalize transaction SPVs (includes creation of structure charts, obtaining EINs, collating legal documentation, and ensuring bank accounts are opened quickly)
  • Centralize sourcing, management and implementation of capital markets and fund management tools and provider relationships
  • Facilitate transaction structuring and assist with sourcing financing facilities and hedging implementations
  • Oversee the transaction allocation process for deals across asset classes and strategies and ensure all allocation decisions are appropriately documented in SPI
  • Maintain inputs to StepStone’s allocation engine including any changes to StepStone’s capital under management (related to new fundraises, transfers, etc.)
  • Oversee pre-investment Luxembourg regulatory processes with depositary and AIFM
  • Manage and develop staff to drive successful outcomes for the individuals, team and organization
  • Support special projects as assigned and needed

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field
  • 7-10 years of private market industry experience in legal and fund operations preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:

  • Acute attention to accuracy and detail
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and proactive communication skills
  • Adaptability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment with overlapping priorities and shifting deadlines
  • Experience with Power BI, Excel, Power Pivot, and document management solutions
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, highly organized and fearlessly persistent

Salary Range - $170,000 - $210,000

The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position.  Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience.  The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
