As the Vice President, People at 1stDibs, reporting to our General Counsel, you'll lead our People function, which is responsible for managing all aspects of the employee lifecycle and team members’ health & safety. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across the company and within the People team to define and champion the People-related strategies for our dynamic and global organization. Your focus will be on ensuring that 1stDibs has the best possible team to reach our business goals by delivering a best-in-class experience across our People functions: Employee Experience, Facilities, People Business Partnership, People Operations and Talent Acquisition. 

This hybrid role is in New York, NY (3 days/week in-office).

What you’ll do

  • Define and champion the company’s People-related strategies, including DEIB, employee engagement, compensation, learning & development, organizational design and workforce distribution
  • Establish goals and success metrics for the People team 
  • Act as a manager, thought partner and mentor to a seasoned People team as they execute day-to-day on People functions
  • Engage directly with the company’s executive team and leaders across the business to advise on People-related matters
  • Act as a conduit of information from across the business to the People team
  • Identify external resources such as consultants and agencies to augment internal People resources

What you’ll bring

  • You have 15+ years of experience within the People function, including 5+ years of People team leadership in a tech company
  • You have demonstrated subject-matter expertise in at least two of the following areas: Compensation, Employee Experience, People Business Partnership, People Operations and Talent Acquisition.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, including C-level executive coaching.
  • You have an entrepreneurial approach to People matters and experience innovating on policies and practices to enhance the employee experience.
  • You foster collaborative environments and teams, encouraging others to contribute ideas and facilitating the engagement necessary to achieve an organization's best results.
  • You have a solid grounding in federal and state (primarily New York) employment laws.
  • You have exceptional verbal, written, and visual presentation skills, with a keen understanding of the power of communication.
  • You bring an analytical mind and an empathetic manner to People-related functions. 

Nice to have

  • Experience with public company matters such as equity compensation and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Experience advising on People matters for a distributed workforce, including for companies with employees in India, Lithuania, or the United Kingdom.

Our overall compensation package is made of several parts, base compensation being one of them.
