The Director of Compliance will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and will assist in all aspects of the firm’s Compliance Programs. This will include, but not limited to, maintaining the firm’s policies, Written Supervisory Procedures, enhancing the firm’s Compliance Programs, building out an extensive testing and monitoring program, analyzing regulatory changes, responsible for Compliance Oversight: ensure compliance and adherence to all internal and business partner policies and regulations with all governing oversight authorities (i.e., FINRA, SEC, etc.) and developing close relationships with compliance’s business partners throughout the firm.

This role has the option to be remote or based in our Irvine, CA or New York, NY offices.

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Become well-versed in the firm’s culture, product offerings and organizational structure by meeting with key partners, and reviewing key documentation
  • Complete registration with FINRA and the SEC
  • Assist with open examinations or regulatory inquiries (if applicable)
  • Become familiar with systems used by Compliance and the firm

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day compliance responsibilities, to include Marketing material and Communications with the public reviews
  • Assist and/or Lead Regulatory examinations, inquiries, and other requests from authorities and regulators, to which the firm is subject
  • Proactively work to identify, prioritize and mitigate regulatory ris
  • Planning strategic goals and objectives consistent with and in furtherance of the firm’s mission statemen
  • Have regular interactions with key business partners

Within 12 months, you will:

  • Be fully integrated into the Compliance Program
  • Help drive key strategic initiatives
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to the CCO and key business partner
  • Model Acorns’ cultural principles to other team members and employees

What you will bring to Acorns:

  • FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses in good standing required
  • Series 66 (Uniform Combined State Law) / Series 65 (Uniform Investment Adviser Law preferred
  • 7+ years of Compliance experience in a retail Broker Dealer/brokerage firm or SEC Registered Investment Adviser focused on retail customers required
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with SEC and FINRA rules; specifically FINRA Rule 2210, SEC Marketing, Advertising, and Cash Solicitation Rules
  • Solution-focused and detail-oriented
  • Past regulatory work experience with FINRA or the SEC preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
