The role

To support our mission, we aim to make it easier for everyone at DeepMind to grow, develop and have an impact. 

We are seeking an L&D partner to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. Embedded within the Learning & Development team (L&D) in DeepMind’s People & Culture team, the L&D partner will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of Manager L&D portfolio.

There is significant scope for this role,  and we’re looking for an individual who’s passionate about creating exceptional learning experiences for our managers. They will be up-to-date with the latest learning trends, tools and techniques, feel at home in front of an audience, and be comfortable working with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders in a fast-paced and changing environment. 

Key responsibilities include: 

Lead the design and development of the Manager L&D portfolio in line with DeepMind’s core mission and unique culture:

  • Define strategy and develop relevant solutions and frameworks to build people management capabilities (already in progress).
  • Develop and embed a journey-led approach for manager development and consider how we plan, implement, partner with internal teams and external partners, communicate internally and externally.
  • Create strong working relationships with our existing external partners, whilst identifying new partners to support and drive our manager development strategy.
  • Take a systematic approach to measure the effectiveness of manager programs and enable a more forensic, data-driven approach to grow, develop and retain our manager population.

Lead the roll out of Manager L&D portfolio in partnership with other People & Culture teams and relevant stakeholder groups in Research, Engineering, Science, Applied and Operations:

  • Work closely with People & Culture partners and Org Dev team to analyse capability levels across the org and provide recommendations for the activation strategy and suitable solutions.
  • Be responsible for the implementation of all solutions within Manager L&D portfolio, measuring impact and communicating the results to respective stakeholders.
  • Facilitate modules of our Manager L&D portfolio (sharing feedback, setting expectations, prioritisation etc.) for  and develop approaches to scale and accelerate the implementation (e.g. via engaging leaders and P&C team as teachers).
  • Create marketing and communication strategies (“push and pull”) to promote key offerings and make it easy for managers to drive their development
  • Working with L&D experience and Operations teams, iterate operational processes across Manager L&D portfolio to ensure a smooth transition from a project into BAU mode.

About you

Key Requirements:

  • You are an expert  Talent or L&D professional, with extensive track record in creating and successfully implementing manager development programmes.
  • Able to develop L&D solutions from discovery through delivery. Instructional design knowledge is a plus!
  • A seasoned facilitator, able to “hold” the space. You are comfortable with delivering a high volume of sessions to accelerate the progress.
  • Experienced in navigating distributed ownership and able to collaborate and deliver with others on a shared topic.
  • As an advisor and coach, you build trusted relationships and bring others along with you.
  • A curious and keen learner, you act on feedback and adjust your approaches based on the changing context.
  • Organised, and comfortable working independently as well as through collaborating with others, balancing many different tasks at varying levels of detail.
  • You act with confidence and instil trust in everyone you interact with, delivering well thought through solutions - if you don’t know the answer you are tenacious in finding out.
  • You exemplify DeepMind’s values of pioneering responsibly and collaborating with kindness towards the mission.

Preferred experience:

  • Designing and delivering manager development programmes within a technology organisation.
