The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to the general ledger and manages the month end close and consolidation process. The Accounting Manager must possess strong analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail. The right candidate must also be process oriented in order to identify the need for process and control changes and be able work cross-functionally to drive and influence these changes. To be successful, this candidate must have the ability to adapt quickly and operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment, and align well with MongoDB’s core values. This position will report to the Senior Accounting Manager, and is an individual contributor role.

Position Expectations
  • Own the monthly consolidation process including managing the global intercompany activities to ensure compliance with US GAAP
  • Extensive knowledge on intercompany setup, elimination entries, cost plus and compliance requirements for intercompany cross charges
  • Maintain and coordinate the close calendar and facilitate a well coordinated, consistent, and timely accounting month-end close process across all reporting periods
  • Work cross functionally with various stakeholders in the accounting close process, including international accounting teams, FP&A, Revenue, Compliance, Tax and non-accounting teams, to ensure seamless execution of close processes
  • Demonstrates a strong technical understanding of US GAAP principles and a hands-on approach to delve into the financial deals
  • Possessing a deep understanding of the company and general ledger structure and ensures accounting set-ups align with the business needs
  • Preparation of the statement of cash flows, including review of supporting schedules for accuracy
  • Review and/or prepare month-end account reconciliations and ensure the completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of supporting documentation to support the accuracy of the consolidated trial balance
  • Engaging actively and collaborating with the external auditors throughout the year, including managing PBC lists, driving deliverable requests internally and collaborating cross-functionally
  • Contributing to the creation and enhancement of written policies and procedure documentation
  • Provide training and guidance to accounting and finance team members as needed
  • Ability to identify problems, research, reconcile discrepancies, and perform root cause analysis 
  • Respond to requests for special reporting and special projects by understanding the problem statement, developing a plan, and executing on deliverables
  • Research technical accounting transactions and provide technical guidance as needed
  • Proactively work on initiatives to implement operational accounting efficiencies through system and process improvements and control enhancements. 
  • Understand internal controls and SOX implications when implementing changes, collaborating closely with the internal audit team
Success Measures 

The Accounting Manager will be successful in this role when they can execute the following strategic tasks/responsibilities:

  • Communication:  Successfully communicate among all levels of employees to ensure the month end close is completed and any issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Meet Deadlines:  Ability to meet month-end, quarter-end, and year-end deadlines to ensure the close runs smoothly and remains on track
  • Research and problem solving: Ability to understand process flow and propose solutions
  • Systems: Successfully navigate Netsuite and related systems and to understand the flow of data
  • Process Improvements: Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements, and working cross-functionally (as needed)
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and have strong rapport with members across the finance organization 
Our Ideal Candidate will have
  • 8 or more years of accounting experience (including accounting operations experience at a multinational company). Public accounting experience preferred. 
  • BA/BS in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Accounting. Active CPA required
  • NetSuite experience is a plus (or experience with other large ERP platforms, such as Oracle, SAP, etc)
  • Experiencing owning and managing the month-end close and consolidation process
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
  • Proactive, assertive and creative approach to problem solving
  • Take ownership of month end activities, and willing to help on ad hoc requests
  • Positive attitude and desire to collaborate cross-functionally and work in a high growth, rapidly changing environment
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and messaging skills
  • Ability to work cross functionally and across geographies
  • Advanced MS excel skills

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:$90,000—$176,000 USD
