DFM Engineer

Xometry is seeking a MFG/DFM Engineer for our international team. Do you thrive on working on the edge? Do you want to transform an industry? The MFG/DFM Engineer is responsible for all stages of the customer's product's technological and production process.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development and launch of the product into production.
- Act as a liaison between the customer and the supplier company.
- Ensure the transition from design to production through concurrent engineering activities with process engineers.
- Implement all changes to the production system related to product modifications (at the level of engineering change management).
- Ensure manufacturability.
- Report all production risk analyses and associated action plans and capabilities.
- Lead product definition (completion of CAD) completed and development to ensure compliance to requirements (acceptance of customer product specification including geometry convergence)
- Perform DFM analysis.
- Apply the production management system, engineering change management, as well as tools and standards.
- Ensure that the main production stages are successfully completed on time.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, technical or related field preferred.
- 2-4 years in engineering and manufacturing environment.
- 1-2 years of manufacturing engineering experience with a focus on CNC machining and/or sheet metal fabrication is required.
- Knowledge will include optimum equipment selections, process cycle times, material limitations and costs and geometry limitations.
- Experience working with suppliers, OEM equipment providers, and customers.
- Knowledge of GD&T and inspection/QA practices is required.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling software is necessary (SolidWorks preferred).
- Ability to identify design for manufacturing (DFM) issues based on CAD models and drawings.
- Design for manufacturing of CNC and 3D printed components is a plus.
Additional Experience:
- Knowledge of all CNC machining and/or sheet metal fabrication practices for both high- and low-volume runs is required, including but not limited to 3/4/5-axis milling.
- Turning with live tooling.
- Familiarity with different types of post-processing/plating finishes for machined parts.
- Familiarity with specialty processes (i.e., wire and sinker EDM, lapping, grinding, honing, and gun drilling) is a plus.
- Material selection knowledge is a plus.
- Use of press brake technology.
- Laser/plasma/water jet cutting.
- Welding of various materials.
- Hydraulic press (stamping) technology.
- Progressive die (stamping) technology.
- 3D printed tooling, Hard tooling, etc.
Qualifications:
- Higher engineering education - metal processing engineer, design engineer or similar
- Experience in the role of engineer from 3 years. Preferably in the field of automotive
- Expert knowledge of various metalworking methods
- Knowledge of various metal and plastic post-processes: polishing, hardening, heat treatment, anodizing, sanding/blasting, coatings, painting, etc.
- Knowledge of various structural materials and their machining properties: metals, plastics, composites
- High conversational and written level of English.
- Willingness and desire to work in a fast-growing business atmosphere, willingness to change
