We are looking for developers who are excited by great code that scales well. As a member of our Toronto team, you’ll work with highly-skilled engineers who have been solving problems in this space for quite some time, and have turned HelloFresh into the #1 meal delivery service in the world!

The role 

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to help architect and implement solutions, lead developers, and write beautiful code. You will strive to achieve company goals and collaborate with local and international teams to find the best solution possible. As a member of our North America team, you’ll work with highly-skilled engineers, who have been solving problems in this space for quite some time, and have turned HelloFresh into the #1 meal delivery service in the world!

What you’ll do
  • Take ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of the applications that you develop
  • Lead a team of engineers as a line manager: supervising day-to-day technical tasks, as well as mentoring/growing engineering skill set within your team
  • Create and execute programs to help individual career progressions
  • Be an active, solution-oriented leader & member of autonomous, cross-functional agile teams collaborating with Product Owners, Frontend and Backend Engineers, Designers, and Business Intelligence teams 
  • Be responsible for making your team effective. Making sure that tech debt is defined and actively addressed, quality standards are continuously improved,  and best practices are followed
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of HelloFresh’s core products and architecture
What you’ll bring
  • 6+ years of experience on a agile software development team, preferably in a lead or senior role for at least 2+ years
  • Hands-on experience in continuous delivery deploying to customer-facing applications
  • 4+ years of experience working with Frontend tools such as HTML, CSS JavaScript, working with component-based architecture using Reactjs working with frameworks such as Next.js.
  • You have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with microservices in at least one backend language/platform as Node.js, Golang, Kotlin/Java, PHP
  • You have experience with databases, distributed systems and event-based architecture and supportive tools e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ
  • You have hands-on experience with deployment cycles, rollbacks and tools for deployment management.  e.g. Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD 
  • Experience writing unit/integration/function test cases, as well as with formalized testing methodologies (i.e. TDD, BDD)
  • You are a humble leader, who is able to motivate a team and drive them to their full potential

New York Pay Range$163,000—$210,000 USD
