In this pivotal role as Legal Counsel, you are the guardian of legal integrity and risk management with a focus on data protection. As a key contributor to operational efficiency and innovation, your role encompasses not only legal expertise but also project management, investor relations, and the continuous development of our legal team and processes. Your responsibilities 
  • Data Protection: Support ensuring a holistic, effective and efficient data management system throughout the organization, including updating concepts, policies and trainings, implementing new standards for emerging technologies and products.
  • Contractual services: Support in drafting, negotiating, and executing of contracts, umbrella agreements, and templates mainly in the area of data protection, consumer protection, and e-commerce.
  • Operational services: Support in managing internal legal requests from the Management, all other departments, and subsidiaries as well as external legal requests (e.g. customer requests, court writs, or papers of other authorities) and corresponding communication, including filing, documentation, and reporting.
  • Project management: Support in managing legal projects.
  • Risk Management: Support in identifying and researching with regards to essential EU regulation across the European entities (e.g. Consumer and Data Protection).
  • Team and legal service development: Support in incrementally developing the legal team (e.g. 360° feedback, self-driven initiatives), systems (e.g. using legal tech), and processes (e.g. policies, training, legal ops) accompanied by a healthy approach to client centricity, excellent communication and collaboration.
  • Leadership & Knowledge resource: Act as an inspiration and sparring partner to team members and other stakeholders, providing guidance and fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth.
What you need to succeed 
  • You can work independently (depending on experience & expertise level), but you are a team player, always looking out for the best interest of the team and company.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills and be capable of providing reasonable, practical, and well-informed advice to all department members as well as senior business leaders/management in response to complex and rapidly changing conditions.
  • Consistent reasonable and forward-looking judgment and legal support, even in ambiguous situations and in fast-paced environment with demanding business partners.
  • Business fluent (verbally and in written) in English.
  • Legal graduation as a fully qualified lawyer or equal education.
  • Enthusiastic and enjoy working hard and being challenged.

Preferred Qualification:

  • German graduation as a fully qualified lawyer (1. and 2. state exam) 
  • International legal education (proofed e.g. by abroad law studies, international LL.M. graduation) or work experience gained in an international environment.
  • Experience or expertise in data protection law a/o compliance.
  • Previous involvement in startup/scale-up environments or in-house consulting within relevant industries.
  • Experiences/Skills in Legal Operation, Legal Design Thinking, Legal Project Management. 
  • Business fluent (verbally and in written) in German a/o third language.
