Role:  Mid-weight UX Copywriter (FTC - 6 months)

Location:London, Canary Wharf (Hybrid; 2-3 days onsite)

ROLE MISSION

To partner with our client, working alongside product owners, designers and developers, writing UX and supporting copy that explains how personal finance products work, and compel readers to become customers. You’ll take a lead role in the development of personal finance product experiences and supporting content, developing a world-class app and web experience: you’ll be the voice of UX writing and ToV in your project team.

THIS ROLE IS RIGHT FOR YOU IF...

  • You have experience of developing copy for apps and websites, advocating for great user experience and collaborating with a range of stakeholders, including product owners, designers, lawyers and compliance officers.
  • You have a strong understanding of UX best practices, micro copy, testing and iterating journeys.
  • You’re able to turn complex ideas into clear, concise and compelling copy.
  • You work well on your own to develop initial drafts of everything from UX copy to supporting FAQs, and then collaborate with the project stakeholders to achieve sign-off for assets.
  • You’re happy dealing directly with legal and compliance stakeholders as well as product owners
  • You enjoy working with other writers to refine standards and guidelines – this will involve peer review and collective critiquing of work along with contributing to a growing toolkit of writing resources.

ABOUT THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING

You’ll be working directly in the client's in-house copy team and they will manage your workload and support you. Your projects will cover a range of UX writing across our public and secure apps and websites, working directly with stakeholders, often autonomously. You will be mostly based at home, with visits to the client offices in either Northampton or Canary Wharf 1-2 times a week

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE

  • Writing UX and supporting copy that explains how a personal finance product works, and compels your reader to become a customer
  • Using insights and customer testing data to iterate journeys and make them more engaging and effective
  • Advocating for customers, working with stakeholders to balance their needs against commercial goals and regulatory responsibilities.
  • Getting to grips with the client’s brand and TOV guide, and applying them in everything from UX copy to product pages and FAQs
  • Managing your own workload and diary, communicating with stakeholders to set priorities and deliver work on time
  • Working with stakeholders to use financial regulations to improve the customer experience rather than hinder it.

WHAT SKILLS WILL HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Demonstrable background in writing for websites and mobile applications
  • Strong understanding of branding, TOV, content strategy and experience working with other teams in an agile environment
  • Ability to pitch ideas and explain reasoning
  • Experience working directly with stakeholders from various teams, managing their feedback and resolving challenges
  • Experience working in agile product development teams
  • Experience editing the work of other writers
  • Experience of writing copy in a regulated industry or business is preferable (experience of Financial Services would be great but not essential)
