Cafeteria Chef Assistant

Reports To:Office Manager

Purpose of the Position:Together with the cafeteria team, prepare, package and serve food items for daily distribution during approved times.

Available Shift: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday / 10am - 8:30pm

Hourly Rate: Starting pay rate is $22.00/hr. You will receive $1/hr increase after your first 30 days of employment, plus $1.50/hr night differential for PM shifts and $1/hr for weekend shifts starting on Saturday and Sunday

Essential Functions:  

• Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment at all times. Ensure kitchen equipment and appliances are ready for use.
• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping produce, cutting meat, and other meal prep.
• Maintains compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling and hygiene codes.
• Assists with unloading, inspection and storage of raw ingredients and supplies.
• Assist with maintenance, cleanliness and stocking of employee breakroom, clean and stocked with necessary meal service utensils, and daily consumables such as coffee, tea, fruit, and condiments.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Experience/Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One to two years working in food preparation or serving environment. Basic understanding of food handling and cooking procedures as well as basic sanitation and workplace safety.
• Able to utilize commercial kitchen equipment, understand and read temperatures
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Able to work as part of a team and individually

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged periods of standing and working in a kitchen.
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks.
