Do you enjoy working with data and consumer research? The world’s leading market intelligence agency, Mintel, is seeking a highly organised consumer researcher to join its Consumer Research and Data Analytics team.

Based in Shanghai, this role will support our syndicated consumer research projects in China, and you will be working with the reporting team to provide a first-class level of quantitative or qualitative consumer analysis. This role will manage the day-to-day research projects from questionnaire design through to fieldwork and data analysis.

The core responsibilities

  • Designing consumer surveys: Working with internal reporting team to design online and/or offline quantitative questionnaires/discussion guides in both English and Chinese that meet research objectives and analysis requirements.
  • Research project management: Liaising with external providers and internal resources to manage research projects independently to ensure all research is conducted within budget and to deadline. This also includes checking outputs and troubleshooting queries. 
  • Analysing data: Using a wide range of data analysis tools including SPSS, R and others to tabulate and analyze quantitative consumer research data effectively. This also includes running advanced statistical analysis which includes, but is not limited to, correspondence analysis, CHAID (decision tree analysis), cluster analysis (segmentation) and forecasting.
  • Training & development: Helping conduct consumer research training with internal report teams (including questionnaire design, data analysis, and using internal reporting tools) and acting as a consultant to within the organization by providing expertise in internal tools, data analysis interpreting statistical analysis.
  • Maintaining internal databases: Gathering market data through desk research.

Who we are looking for:

  • 2+ year’s work experience within a market research agency/client-side environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or a comparable degree with a minimum of 2:1 in a relevant subject
  • Strong knowledge of designing and analysing quantitative research (both online and offline) from questionnaire design to data output
  • Proven experience with analysing data in R or SPSS (or similar statistical software) in commercial setting
  • Highly organised with experience of managing multiple research projects to deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and interpretative skills with the ability to communicate data, statistics and other research-related concepts to non-researchers
  • Experience of searching or using secondary data, such as industry or government data
  • High attention to detail with a focus on ensuring quality data
  • A strong team player willing to help out others both within and outside the team
  • A high degree of numeracy
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin
