CNET is seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative Copy Editor to edit and support accurate, informative, compelling coverage of personal tech and other popular topics, with an emphasis on quality assurance. The successful person will have outstanding writing and editing skills, a solid understanding of journalistic principles, and a good feel for how diverse content coexists on an expansive website, and will work as a team player across the Edit organization. This person will be part of a dynamic team creating content for a growing audience fascinated by technology and change.

This is ideally a hybrid role, with at least two days in the office each week (Tues, Weds). Candidates may be based in San Francisco, New York or Charlotte. Open to remote for candidates outside of the listed cities.

  • Flex your top-tier editing, writing and communication skills
  • Use journalism and publishing best practices to help present CNET articles to best effect
  • Join a collaborative team of writers and editors

  • Fact check, update or write stories as needed

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience in copy editing, newsroom copyediting preferred  
  • BA or above in Journalism, Writing, English, Communications or commensurate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with WordPress or a similar CMS
  • Familiarity with SEO principles
  • Positive, self-motivated, collaborative attitude with managers and colleagues
  • Ability to pivot quickly among different projects
  • Team player who is quick to raise a helping hand and apply feedback in the spirit of growth
  • Curious, with a mindset for learning

Compensation

  • Cash Compensation Range: $55,000-$70,000
  • New York City Cash Compensation Range: $55,000 - 80,000
  • San Francisco, CA Compensation Range: $55,000 - 80,000 *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
