  About the Teams

You will have  the opportunity to lead two teams.  The Account Services team gives our Managed Service Provider (MSP) clients to create and configure their own instances.  The Admin Core Experience team owns the foundational pieces of an Okta admin’s journey.

Managing these two teams, you will own the following aspects:

  • Building products to allow admins to self-serve their needs, such as adding credit card functionality to purchase SKUs.
  • Creating widgets that surface actionable data to admins, such as potential malicious IP addresses.
  • Build out platform to allow customers to create their own instances globally, and provision SKUs based on their licensing.
  • Admin UI framework, including building components that support our design system, Odyssey.
About the Position

We are seeking an Engineering Manager with a strong technical background and excellent communication skills to join us and partner with senior leadership in the MPE group.

Your work will be front and center to thousands of Okta customer administrators that drive Okta functionality for millions of end users.

The ideal candidate will share our passion and great pride in elegant solutions and will join an engineering group that strongly believes in designing for scale, rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and an iterative process to build high-quality next generation enterprise software.

What you will be doing:
  • Engage in technical design and discussions and also help drive technical architecture
  • Raise the bar for our teams by driving improvements in areas such as monitoring, uptime, code reviews.
  • Collaborate and develop relationships with other teams to achieve our goals, in particular our TechOps (SRE) group.
  • Ensure the happiness and productivity of the team’s software engineers
  • Help mitigate risk (technical, product, personnel)
  • Identity roadblocks to success for your team and clear them
  • Participate in relevant Engineering workgroups and on-call rotations
  • Mentor and grow a distributed team.
  • Foster, enable and promote innovation
  • Define team metrics and meet productivity goals of the organization
What you will bring to the role: 
  • A track record of leading or managing high performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to own architectural decisions and provide technical direction to the team as a manager.
  • Prior experience working with a system at scale.
  • The ability to run effective 1-on-1s, group discussions, planning sessions, and retrospectives
  • Demonstrated prior experience as a high performing IC.
