We're looking to welcome to our team a Head of Compliance for SumUp Ireland, based in Dublin.

The Head of Compliance is an integral part of our Global Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) management team and will be responsible for the compliance programme of our largest European regulated entity which provides the regulatory framework for a large part of our European business. This role is essential to SumUp's success in the EU and will work with colleagues across the whole SumUp organization. This person will report directly to SVP, Global Regulatory & Compliance.

What you will do:

  • Oversee the operations of the Ireland Compliance team, including training, capacity planning, tracking team and individual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for the programme
  • Work with GRC team to provide strategic planning, organisational structure, focus areas, and quarterly goals and key results
  • Representing the company in its communications with the Central Bank of Ireland
  • Conduct compliance reviews and analysis of new regulatory and product developments and maintain oversight of developments affecting business activities and license status
  • Prepare reports to the Irish senior management team and the Irish Board of Directors to communicate all relevant compliance issues and escalate any important or high risk compliance issues
  • Work with other SumUp GRC teams around the world to identify clear steps necessary to avoid regulatory risks and provide solutions
  • Executes large scale compliance programmes that have an impact for SumUps Irish license, often working closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., market or business managers, product managers, legal counsel, etc.)
  • Investigates any potential compliance risks to minimize adverse reputational and/or financial impact
  • Maintains tools for measurement and monitoring of compliance controls and reporting capabilities
  • Coaches and mentors others while serving as a technical expert, often managing cross-functional initiatives and sharing specialist knowledge on a specific compliance area
  • Be a trusted advisor on regulatory issues
  • Provide creative, flexible and proactive regulatory, product and commercial advice on payment services and related financial products
  • Identify business requirements resulting from existing, evolving and new laws and regulations
  • Drive regulatory and risk management for cross functional projects
You’ll be great for this role if,
  • You have strong experience in managing Compliance in a complex, financial services firm, or related e-money/payments industry 
  • People management is your strong suit - you have built and help grow teams 
  • You have experience of managing relationships with a variety of global stakeholders and act as a trusted partner
  • You have operational knowledge in building and running a sound compliance programme, with hands-on knowledge and an understanding of regulatory requirements for Ireland
  • You have strong communication skills
  • You have previous experience of having held a Pre-Approval Control Function
