SAM Labs inspires generations of problem solvers with Coding and STEAM. We empower teachers with innovative curriculum resources, tools, and the mindset to do so. Teachers and students learn with SAM Labs kits and lessons by designing anything from energy efficient lighting grids for ‘smart’ cities to solar-powered habitats for endangered species - all the while meeting curriculum standards.

Calling all Portland-based educators and summer camp-enthusiasts! SAM Labs is looking for talented, enthusiastic, creative and energetic adults who can facilitate four weeks of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) summer camp across the Portland area. No coding or technical skills are required, but an interest in STEM or Computer Science is preferred.

We are seeking certified educators to lead afternoon STEAM enrichment at PPS sites from July 1st - August 1st (with the 4th and 5th of July off). All of the lessons and resources required for instruction for the afternoon programming will be provided. From unplugged activities to design challenges, you will have the opportunity to facilitate some of the most engaging and fun STEAM and coding activities with up to thirty Kindergarten-5th grade students in-person at one of our two PPS Summer Acceleration sites. The required instructor hours are from 12:30am-5:30pm per day. You will therefore be working a total of 5 hours per day across the 4 weeks of summer programming.

SAM Labs is paying the highly competitive rate of $35 per hour, with a total earning of $3,850 for the month of work + $35 per hour for required training time (6 hours) = ~$4,060 total compensation per instructor

This exciting opportunity will not only allow you to work directly with bright and inspiring students, but it will also provide a chance for you to develop your own skills as well! Have you been curious about learning coding or engineering design? With our pre-camp training, you will be well-equipped to not only facilitate and guide the students, but also apply those skills to future projects and initiatives. All of the lessons, resources, and training will be provided and you will be compensated for your training & planning time.
