About the role

As the Product Counsel, Payments, you will support our Product monetization teams in developing new features and establishing partnerships in the app ecosystem to grow Crunchyroll globally. Your responsibilities include researching our strategy for entering new territories and becoming an expert on global payments and e-commerce laws. Reporting to our Head of Product Counsel, you'll work closely with our business teams to shape our approach to product compliance and provide guidance as we introduce new features and expand anime globally.

In your role as Product Counsel, Payments you will:

  • You will collaborate with finance, engineering, and product teams to enhance our global payments and expansion strategy through commercial agreements
  • You will identify issues related to global payment laws and regulations in partnership with engineering and product teams
  • You will address legal/regulatory payment requirements in key growth territories and/or coordinate with outside counsel on these issues
  • You will review and negotiate partner/distributor agreements on global app distribution, flagging risks to team members to understand potential liabilities
  • You will review go-to-market initiatives, including customer acquisition funnels, for our global expansion strategy, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and partner requirements
  • You will provide guidance on the global e-commerce strategy, including regulatory requirements and disclosures in consumer-facing material

About You

  • Juris Doctor and membership in good standing (CA/NY bar)
  • You have 8+ years of experience with a credible law firm or serving as in-house legal, including 3+ years of dedicated experience in monetization and payments support for product and engineering teams
  • You are familiar with global payments and e-commerce regulations
  • You have worked in the entertainment, tech or streaming industry

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
