The Pioneer Programme

This role is part of the BC Pioneer Programme; a portfolio-wide community and learning & development programme built exclusively for the future leaders of our ventures and scale-ups.

When embarking on a Pioneer role within our portfolio, you will be exposed to an environment unlike any other and will have the opportunity have a tangible impact on a business going through a continuously evolving period of growth. Alongside your role, you will undertake an 18-month Red Team L&D programme, giving you access to learning materials, training and experts to help you to set up your own career adventure.

The concept of ‘career adventuring’ is founded on developing your skills and providing you with the necessary tools, coupled with your own personal resilience and attitude to work. This approach is at the heart of the Pioneer programme vision, and both your venture and the Red Team are committed to working with you to help you excel.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in product, operations, strategy, operations etc
  • Minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree (in any discipline)
  • Experience in working in technology would be advantageous 
  • A passion for start-ups and disruption, with experience in or ambitions to build your own venture in the future
  • Emotional intelligence and be compassionate and supportive in nature  
  • Give evidence of the ability to be a self-starter and be able to adapt to multiple roles in a variety of high-pace environments
  • A passion for building your network and capacity to work well with colleagues and stakeholders at C-suit and executive levels 

Responsibilities:

We’re excited to be on the hunt for a Product Manager to join our team and drive the product development of some industry-changing tools using the latest GenAI technology. This position offers the responsibility to act as the bridge between the go-to-market and engineering teams as we continue to define and evolve tools that will change how organisations engage with their customers. You will also spend time meeting with & learning from our existing and prospective clients.

Your priority responsibilities will include:

  • Feature Specification: Collaborate with stakeholders, engineering and design to identify, prioritise and refine product features and requirements.
  • Product Development: Lead the product development process, including requirements gathering, roadmap planning, and prioritisation.
  • Keeping Accountability: Remain in the details of development sprints, keeping teams accountable for quickly delivering to a high standard.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Constantly use data to test, inform and improve product features and user exeprience.

You will also:

  • Product Strategy: Define and drive the product vision and strategy, using information gathered from customers, product usage data, market research and the latest GenAI technology.
  • Learning from Customers: Regularly meet with & present to existing and prospective customers to build a deep understanding of what is needed to solve some of their biggest pain points.
  • Market and Competitor Analysis: Conduct in-depth competitor analysis to understand market dynamics, identify key competitors, and analyse their strategies and product offerings. Stay abreast of industry trends to inform product decisions and identify areas for innovation, ensuring our products remain competitive and meet evolving market demands.

 

The process:

We have a rigorous recruitment process which we use for all our roles to ensure we attract the very best and diverse talent. 

This will involve an initial telephone conversation, followed by a panel interview and a case study where you will meet with that businesses management team and the Chief Operating team over 2 stages. We aspire for every person invited into an interview to find the process as interesting and engaging as we no doubt will.
