We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our office in Berlin!

In your role as a Senior Fullstack Engineer, your mission will be to change the future of language learning while working in a flexible and stimulating environment. Working together with motivated colleagues, you will be collaborating and diving into different disciplines to broaden your knowledge in other fields of expertise as well as share your own.

We are at the heart of Babbel, developing the learning content architecture and the tools our editors use to create our learning experiences! Topics include event-driven microservice architecture, the content editing front end, CMS customization, and AI-assisted content modeling. Primary stack: JavaScript (some TypeScript), Ruby, and React.

You will:

You have:

• Proven track record in guiding technical strategies and initiatives, aligning with business goals and consistently meeting project timelines.
• Strong sense for good API design
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Openness to learn new things and reach outside your comfort zone
• Extensive testing experience
• Experience tracking system health and performance
• A product-oriented mindset
• A strong sense of ownership of your work
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English

Nice to have:

• Experience with Ruby & Rails
• Experience building AI-assisted applications
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform)
• Experience with event-driven, distributed architecture
• Experience with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, Kinesis)
