Reporting to the Head of Travel, DMO and Growth Sales, Europe, Africa & Middle East, this role is an integral part of the TripAdvisor Destination Marketing Sales Team. This person will create and present strategic and tactical revenue initiatives and opportunities to National, Regional and City Tourism Boards and relevant advertising agencies in dedicated territories across Europe, Middle East and Africa.

We are looking for an individual with natural enthusiasm to the industry and the ability plan and build long-term relationships across dedicated territories in Europe, Middle East and Africa (territory changes will occur as our business and sales team expands). Arranging and conducting face-to-face meetings with key clients, with a natural ability to see how Tripadvisor can help the destination brand grow and creating multi-level partnerships, is a key to the success of this role. Equally important is the willingness to thoroughly understand the nature of Tourist Boards and being able to present the unique power and value that Tripadvisor has across the globe. The right individual needs to be willing to research and find information, developments and market news, and share these with the rest of the team and clients, in order to establish themselves as a knowledgeable representative of Tripadvisor in the dedicated markets.

What You’ll Do

  • Generate accurate and timely reports on all sales forecasting, activity and performance as required.
  • Create seamless working relationship with other teams within TripAdvisor, such as Operations, Trafficking & Planning, Marketing, Partnerships, PR & Events etc is paramount.
  • Develop and present advertising based, revenue generating ideas/opportunities to a marketing challenge.
  • Identify new sales and upsell/cross sell opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams and leads efforts to maximize the revenue generation opportunity. Identify client needs and provides solutions to meet and exceed their business objectives
  • Deal with Marketing Managers/Directors, Account Directors, Strategy Directors working both online and offline, as well as General Managers, CEO’s and even Tourism Ministers.
  • Negotiate and close 7 figure deals
  • Work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
  • Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. May supervise the activities of others.
  • Present at trade shows, seminars and conferences. Identifies and implements best practices across teams and regions.
  • Mentors less experienced staff
  • Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.

 Skills & Experience

  • Requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience.
  • University degree (or equivalent) required and/or extensive real world experience in the travel/sales industry.
  • An understanding of the media sales process including traditional media and/or online is required.
  • Media sales experience - the majority being gained in face-to-face sales meetings with clients (and advertising agencies) preferably on Pan-European/Middle-Eastern/African level. Premium is placed on Travel Industry experience with solid contacts network on the Regional & National Tourist Boards across head-offices in Europe, Africa and Middle-East, as well as experience working with international and UK Media Agencies
  •  Be creative and able to perform in a fast-paced, highly changing marketplace and be driven to meet and exceed revenue targets, with a consultative approach to client’s needs and timelines.
  • Ability to provide considerable sales expertise in strategically growing and developing business across multiple commercial products (including display, video, content solutions and social media solutions).
  • Have broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
  • Fluent written and spoken English with another European language strongly preferred, other languages will be beneficial.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of the international travel and media/communications industry is essential, particularly with the tourist boards and related businesses.
  • Good computer knowledge of software programs such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.  Highly effective at verbal and written communication, including the delivery of presentations is essential for success in this role.
