Core Basket Building Experience (Grocery and Retail) 

Deliveroo offers consumers a world-class Grocery experience, with a marketplace offering that enables them to shop dream brands — from Esselunga in Italy, to Carrefour in France, to Waitrose, Coop, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons in the UK — plus the best local independent selection and ranges of thousands of products to meet every need. More recently Deliveroo launched a new vertical - shopping, enabling consumers to shop from categories such as toys, DIY, electronics and beauty. All accompanied by a seamless experience that enables consumers to discover items and build baskets with a native UX.

We are looking for a product manager to join the team to enhance the core shopping experience. 

What’s the goal

  • Customers already consider Deliveroo their emergency and impulse grocery needs - how can we continue to drive a shift in the consumer mindset such that Deliveroo becomes the only app customers turn to when they need groceries quickly and conveniently
  • How can we evolve our customer browsing experience to showcase the breadth and depth of our selection in a way that customers start trusting us with additional grocery missions 
  • How might we build tools for partners and adapt our customer experience to improve consumers’  "Value for money” perception
  • For our most regular customers, how might we continue to evolve the basket building experience to drive ease of basket building 
  • We have recently launched a new vertical - shopping (non-food items). We expect the shopping experience for this vertical to be more item / brand led - how can we evolve the core basket building experience to enable  customers to fulfil these new missions

What you’ll be doing

Examples of some of the topics and activities in the scope of this role:

  • You will develop an understanding of consumer needs and develop the product strategy to meet these needs, influencing consumer behaviour.
  • You'll collaborate with several teams to deliver a seamless customer experience for customers who are shopping with us.
  • You’ll lead the browse-based discovery journey - spanning the partner landing page, to our consumer taxonomy, to the product detail pages that help consumers make informed decisions. 
  • You will empower designers to create impactful solutions by articulating the project's "why," core problem, goals, and target user needs.
  • You will also refine our existing grocery and retail upsell experiences with a goal to enable customers to build larger baskets 
  • Collaborate on building a synchronised roadmap, facilitating an agile transition from design sprints to development iterations.
  • You’ll originate and develop a strategy around both new product areas and evolving our existing suite, starting from conception, to GTM and shaping the vision for the proposition.

Requirements 

  • User centric - first and foremost you’re solving user problems.
  • You are equally comfortable pulling together insights from quantitative data and qualitative inputs to form clear hypotheses .
  • You will convey complex topics to diverse audiences, and motivate the team to meet the objectives.
  • Comfortable managing and influencing a broad set of stakeholders across most levels at Deliveroo (Commercial, Design, Content, Research, and Legal)
  • You have experience running experiments, are comfortable discussing and analysing results with Data Science and forming opinions, conclusions and recommendations
