The Community You Will Join:

The Cancellation team within our Guest & Host organization owns the product and systems responsible for managing Guest, Host, and administrative cancellations on the platform. Some examples include Cancel by Guest, Guest rebooking, Aircover for Guests, and Cancel by Host flows & backing orchestration. Similar to the booking flow itself, most new Airbnb features and products interact with Cancellations, so defining and executing a strategy that enables both development speed and management of that complexity is a critical core competency for the team.

The Difference You Will Make:

Your day-to-day responsibilities includes:

  • Own key company level problem statements such as Cancel By Host Reduction. An engineer in this role should expect to contribute across the team on initiatives such as these.
  • Work closely with cross functional partners e.g. PMs along with Design, Data, and TPM will be key partners for someone in this role.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning
Your Expertise:
  • 6+ years engineering experience with a BS/Masters and 2+ years with a PhD
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in building and scaling high-quality and high-traffic products (or systems).
  • Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
  • Ability to drive alignment, manage projects and effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Mentorship to junior developers

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

Pay Range$185,000—$221,000 USD
