The Knowledge Graph team within this organization is responsible for building the infrastructure and data foundation of the graph DB, empowering various product experiences like booking and exploring unique stays. We collaborate across functions to revolutionize the Airbnb product experience and contribute to the company's mission of making everyone feel like they can belong anywhere.

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Knowledge Graph team, you will play a hands-on role in solving challenging yet exhilarating problems related to graph infrastructure and data foundations. We thrive on working across technologies, and we value backgrounds in knowledge graph, graph/search/ML infra, taxonomy management, and location/entity understanding.

A Typical Day: 

  • Utilize third-party and in-house infrastructure to create reusable, highly differentiating, and high-performing data and graph systems.
  • Apply industry best practices for taxonomy development and knowledge modeling.
  • Collaborate with team members and establish close partnerships with other technical organizations at Airbnb.

Your Expertise:

  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Expertise in one or more of the following:
    • Knowledge graph
    • Data modeling and taxonomy development
    • Taxonomy / ontology management platform
    • Graph database and data infra
    • Search and applied machine learning
    • Full stack including UX experience
  • Hands-on experience with developing, production, and operating structured and unstructured data pipelines at scale, covering both batch and real-time use cases.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to new challenges and technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and a keenness to learn and share knowledge within the engineering organization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of experience in software development with focus on data, search or ML

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Airbnb,Inc. can employ in  states where we have registered entities. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

Pay Range$185,000—$221,000 USD
