The Solutions Engineering Team

Solutions Engineers at Okta are involved in all stages of the customer’s development lifecycle and are experienced using presentations, email, phone and social media to connect with customers. We are looking for great teammates that can build sales presentations, product demonstrations, and educate customers (everyone from developers to product managers to C-level executives) on the best ways to adopt cloud security technology.. Okta’s Solutions Engineers empathize with customers and quickly discern their true technical needs by asking detailed and clarifying questions and presenting solutions that target those needs. The Senior Solutions Engineer Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager Solutions Engineers, this Senior Solutions Engineer will be partnering with two to three Enterprise Account Executives .

As a Senior Solutions Engineer at Okta you will be the technical lead in all stages of the customer lifecycle. You will focus on delivering customer value by aligning customer requirements to business results that are enabled by Okta solutions. You will contribute to account and opportunity strategies, and collaboratively prove the value of Okta solutions through presentations, whiteboard sessions and proof of concepts.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Support the sales team in helping customers understand what they can achieve with Okta
  • Understand customer requirements and communicate the business value of solving technology problems using cloud technology
  • Execute the delivery of POCs for customers that have more complex use cases, collaborating with other Okta engineering teams as needed
  • Craft technical content to show customers how to implement specific use cases or standard methodologies for new technologies
  • Prepare demos and proof of concepts to demonstrate various use cases for Okta’s Platform
  • Distill and communicate customer needs and product feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and Sales
  • Typically 10-25% travel

What you’ll bring to the role

  • 5+ years pre-sales engineering experience.
  • A passion to serve the customer, which has played out in some customer-facing role like consulting or support, ideally solutions engineering. 
  • An ability to quickly communicate complex ideas around a technical topic, ideally on the fly at a whiteboard.
  • Experience with at least one standard network security protocol. (eg. OAuth, OAuth2, SAML, LDAP)
  • We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in multiple cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) 
  • You are an elite communicator.
  • Confident dispensing knowledge to a highly skilled and experienced audience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a comparable field is preferred.

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following! 

  • Experience in the IAM space

Below is the annual On Target Compensation (OTE) range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual OTE, which is inclusive of base salary and incentive compensation, will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable) and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual OTE range for this position for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$170,000—$282,000 USD
