The Opportunity:

As the buildling block that provides solid baseline to the company’s culture of integrity, the Agoda Compliance & Ethics team is at the forefront in driving and maintaining the Agoda Compliance & Ethics program.

We are seeking able, confident, curious, and self-motivated lawyer with experience working in or leading global Compliance & Ethics program to join the energetic & passionate Agoda Compliance & Ethics team who will have significant contribution to strengthen regulatory compliance requirements and support integration of Compliance & Ethics program to the business. 

 

In this Role, you'll get to:

  • Be a subject matter expert in the team to provide well-reasoned, yet practical legal & compliance advice on a wide range of Compliance & Ethics related matters, policies, and processes. Explain importance of C&E requirements in an understandable way and come up with risk-based and business-oriented mitigation plans.
  • As a true business partner, to maintain regular communication with key business teams across departments, including senior level management, global legal team, sister-brand counterparts, BHI counterparts and external counsel.
  • Be the main driver of the Agoda Compliance & Ethics program development and implementation to maintain strong culture of integrity.
  • Implement Compliance & Ethics- related contract standards and controls, while maintain alignment to the holding company and/or sister-brand level.
  • Contribute to new Compliance & Ethics related policies, procedures, training, and templates with the goal of fostering efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal and cross-brand stakeholders to initiate well-functioned and integrated Global Third-Party Risk Management initiative, systems, and processes.
  • Take the lead in managing the Conflict of Interest disclosure process, ensuring proper follow-up to any disclosures and implementation of measures to address actual and/or potential conflicts;
  • Support the investigator in conducting compliance investigations where necessary, including evidence collection, coordinating complex investigations and interviews.
  • Additional project and ad hoc work as necessary to support the compliance & ethics function and mature the program.
  • Coordinate, analyze and document trends in compliance activity and other relevant data to effectively initiate mitigation plan to prevent future impact on the company.

 

What you'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law
  • At least 5-7 years post-qualified experience in managing/ navigating regulatory compliance areas globally with a focus on APAC. These include ABC, Sanctions, AML, Anti-Discrimination/ Anti-Harassment, Human Rights, as well as C&E program requirements based on US sentencing guidelines, US DOJ Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Program, OECD's 12 Good Practices on Internal Controls, Ethics, and Compliance, UK 6 Principals for Bribery Prevention.
  • At least 5 years in leading or managing key elements of Compliance & Ethics Programs in medium to large organizations.
  • Proactive thinking beyond assigned tasks and consistently developing solutions to further the Compliance & Ethics program.
  • Detailed-oriented, able to connect dots, see the big picture, drive changes, and confidently navigate and appropriately mitigate challenging compliance requirements with business mindsets.
  • Must possess strong project management skills and able to plan and execute projects of significant scope and complexity.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organization skills; English proficiency.
  • Ability to position the role as C&E strategic advisor and forge trusted relationships with colleagues around the world.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
  • Must possess the highest integrity, commensurate with a compliance & ethics position.
  • Ability to operate without extensive supervision and act as a self-starter.
  • Energetic, fast-paced, and always desire to go the extra mile.

 

It's Great if you have:

  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional credentials (and required within 18 months of appointment to position).
  • Experience with the travel industry/ technology
