Who We Are:

The Workflow teams within Service Engineering build, support and enhance workflows that allow customers and agents to take actions on orders to resolve a problem. The team helps create end-to-end experiences for post order tasks that involve order modifications like cancellations, returns, replacements and others. The overall goals are to reduce contacts, to reduce the average handle time of contacts, to increase self-service adoption and to offer efficient resolutions to our customers with a best-in-class experience. The team is responsible for providing robust and scalable applications that are built from the ground up. The team works with Data Engineering, Data Science and other Service Engineering and Order Platforms teams to support various business stakeholders. Our products are geared towards helping customers and agents be a part of world-class post order experience that includes goal-oriented online automated chat, virtual assistants, and recommendations in search. We look for entrepreneurial individuals who are driven and want to take ownership over their own agenda and aim to be successful in a collaborative team environment.

What You'll Do:
  • Actively work alongside peers to work on highly technical projects and deliver high quality contributions to the codebase
  • Have a high degree on autonomy and ownership on the domain you are part of
  • Work with senior leadership to architect and present solutions to technical and ambiguous problems
  • Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches to meet team and project goals.
  • Mentor junior engineers to develop the next generation of Wayfair engineering talent
  • Collaborate effectively with Product partners, QA, Product analytics and other business stakeholders to understand the requirements and their impact in great detail
  • Work within an Agile culture to foster continuous improvement at the team and departmental level
We Are a Match Because: 
  • 7+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer with an in-depth understanding of programming languages such as, React, Java, Spring Boot, GraphQL and PHP
  • Good experience gathering requirements from Product and deriving software requirements from them
  • Proficient in effective troubleshooting and using acquired knowledge to improve the system
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and supervising code reviews
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, product managers, QA, Product analytics, design and business stakeholders
  • Successful background in designing production systems at scale including fault tolerance, reliability, performance, and security
  • Experience working with Docker Containers and Kubernetes is plus
  • Experience working with Datadog and Kibana is plus
