At Databricks, our mission is to help data teams solve the world’s toughest problems.  As a Sr. Solutions Engineer, you will help guide and enable our Customers through the technical evaluation phase in a hands-on environment throughout the sales process.  Further, you will serve as an internal technical advisor, partnering closely with your sales and product teams as an advocate of your Customers in the Field.  You will help our customers to achieve tangible data-driven outcomes through the use of the Databricks Lakehouse Platform, helping data teams complete projects and integrate our platform into their enterprise Ecosystem. You'll grow as a leader in your field, while finding solutions to our customers' biggest challenges in big data, analytics, data engineering and data science problems. You will report to the Field Engineering Manager.

The impact you will have:

  • You will help improve team efficiency by supporting your Field Engineering and Sales teams, and form successful relationships with clients throughout your assigned territory to provide technical and business value
  • You will support your Customers through the evaluation and adoption Databricks
  • You will support your Customers by authoring reference architectures, how-tos, and demo applications
  • You will help integrate Databricks with 3rd-party applications to support customer architectures
  • You will engage with the technical community by leading workshops, seminars and meet-ups

What we look for:

  • 2+ years of either:
    • hands-on experience designing and implementing architecture within public clouds (AWS, Azure or GCP).  Core strength in Data Analytics is a plus, OR
    • professional experience in a customer-facing technical consulting role or a practitioner with technical competency implementing Data Engineering or Data Science focused solutions.
  • Experience demonstrating technical concepts, including presenting and whiteboarding.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and ability to learn technical selling capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excited to work with people and technology in equal measure.
  • [Desired] Professional experience writing code in at least one of the following areas
    • Data engineering or machine learning (Python, R, etc.)
    • Software or application engineering (C, Java, Rust, etc.) 
    • Database systems (SQL)
  • [Desired] Experience with Big Data technologies, including Spark, AI, Data Science, Data Engineering, Hadoop, Cassandra, and others.
  • [Desired] Degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Computational Linguistics, Operations Research, Psycho Linguistics etc.).

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
