Staff Engineer - Backend

Can be in Denver Colorado, Boulder, Colorado or El Paso, Texas

What you’ll do:

• Lead architecture and design for SumUp’s  most interesting and challenging technical problems
• Pioneer solutions through collaboration, experimentation and innovation
• You’ll maintain a high level of quality in our codebases through sound development practices including code reviews, instrumentation with monitoring and alerting systems, automated testing, and architecture reviews
• Own, design, and code product initiatives from start to finish
• You will work on and help to improve the platform upon which our core mobile (Android) and web APIs are built

What we're looking for:

• Strong background in mobile (Android) as well as web design and code
• A keen developer who will proactively drive core integrations and act as top-tier support for any complex questions they have.
• Integrations use many different technologies: iOS, Android, Microsoft .NET, REST APIs, TypeScript, Python, OpenAPI and many others.
• Candidate should be comfortable learning new technologies, codebases and integration flows.
• Requires excellent communication skills.  Even more than technical capability, the staff Engineer is a “glue” to solutions across many teams–both internal and external.

 Compensation: 

• 180-190k per annum
• Compensation will be finalized based on the candidate’s experience and location
