Staff Software Engineer - Community Support Platform:

The Community You will Join:

Airbnb Community support platform team takes care of any host and guest issues at any stage of their booking. We are building a world-class community support platform that resolves guest and host problems very efficiently. We build and maintain our own in-house global community support platform because no solution exists with the global reach needed. 

Airbnb’s business grows rapidly year over year, and so does Airbnb Community support volume. We value our guest and host privacy, that's why we have a very robust role based access control system. Ambassadors have very limited and controlled access in our system. As a Staff Engineer for Provisioning, CSP, this individual would be leading the solution to have a very flexible and controlled provisioning mechanism on the provisioning platform.

We are looking for a self-motivated leader who is interested in working in a highly dynamic environment by collaborating with cross-functional and cross-geographical teams. As a Staff Engineer, you would be expected to bring in expertise of managing large scale platforms, and bringing predictive tools & processes to improve the availability of our Provisioning platform for all our internal & external stakeholders. Our Provisioning platform connects with multiple internal systems and has grown in complexity & reach. We are looking for a leader who can understand the provisioning space and architect the new provisioning platform, one that is able to understand and analyze the current system challenges & build a simple design of this complex space. The current system needs intelligent alerting systems, a focus on building reliable observability instrumentation and processes for our engineers to consistently uplevel the availability and performance of their services. This is a strategic role where you will be responsible for building and scaling a high-performing team, developing and optimizing provisioning processes, and ensuring a seamless provisioning experience for our internal stakeholders.

A Typical Day:

• Develop and re-architect the provisioning system for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define the scope and responsibilities of the provisioning team.
• Hire, onboard, and mentor a team of engineers with diverse skill sets to meet the provisioning team's objectives.
• Design and implement robust provisioning processes and workflows that align with the company's goals and industry best practices.
• Establish and maintain a strong provisioning infrastructure with the necessary tools, systems, and technologies.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of provisioning systems and processes.
• Continuously monitor and improve provisioning performance, identifying areas for optimization and automation.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to provisioning and implement relevant improvements

Your expertise:

• Minimum of 12+ years of experience in relevant industry experience in a fast paced tech environment
• Strong expertise in provisioning technologies, tools, and systems.
• Proven experience in building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Deep understanding of provisioning processes, workflows, and best practices.
• Solid knowledge of scalable infrastructure design and implementation.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong working knowledge across observability tools (eg. DataDog, Open Telemetry etc.)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a data-driven approach.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Technical leadership: hands on experience leading project teams and setting technical direction and strategy
• You are passionate about efficiency, availability, technical quality and system quality.
