Writer, Banking | Bankrate
Red Ventures is looking for a Banking Writer to join our Bankrate team. As a writer, you will create articles explaining key insights and trends in the banking industry, helping a diverse audience of consumers make informed decisions on how to best manage their money, from young adults starting to build their savings to retirees budgeting their finances.
We are looking for a hard-working, detail-oriented and dedicated individual who can help us grow our presence in a variety of banking topics, including savings and budgeting, as well as banking products such as checking, savings and money market accounts, and certificates of deposit (CDs). The ideal candidate should have a passion for personal finance and banking, and be comfortable creating content on a variety of platforms. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting is a must.
What You'll Do:
- Write impactful and actionable stories, based on SEO concepts and best practices, that are highly visible on search and engaging on social media channels.
- Explain complicated topics in consumer banking and make them easily understandable.
- Work closely with the editor to brainstorm story ideas, respond to edits and meet deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with the SEO team to establish high-level priorities.
- Monitor news and trends related to banking and personal finance.
What We're Looking For:
- At least 2 years of experience covering banking, personal finance or related topics.
- Excellent research, writing and editorial skills, with the ability to respond to edits.
- Ability to manage tight timelines and meet publishing goals.
- Experience writing content based on SEO concepts and best practices.
- Ability to grasp the voice, style and tone of the Bankrate brand.
- Willingness/openness to leverage new tooling to enhance your work.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with a team and individually as needed.
- Experience with AP style.
Compensation:
- USA Compensation Range: $50,000 - $62,500
- New York City Compensation Range: $60,000 - $75,000
- Note: actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
