AP Accountant

Position Overview
The Accounts Payable Accountant is a member of the fund accounting team and is responsible for assisting with the centralized accounts payable process across StepStone funds. This is a hands-on position that will require day to day processing of accounts payable items. This position works closely with the fund accounting, legal and corporate accounting teams, third-party fund administrators and outside vendors. This position will also support the team with various treasury and tax related items.
Essential Job Functions:
The position requires a hands-on, proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented individual. Further, this position requires excellent Excel skills and experience processing large amounts of data while meeting tight deadlines.
Specific activities include:
Responding to and tracking responses to the shared AP inbox
Processing invoices received
- Obtain the appropriate approvals
- Determine the appropriate coding and allocation of invoices to fund
- Review invoices against contracts and engagement letters from outside vendors
- Prepare invoice uploads and enter information into accounting software
- Bill Funds and entities for AP expense reimbursements
- Prepare reporting for internal and external teams review
- Reconcile open invoices with vendors
- Resolve questions and issues as they arise
- Prepare wire templates and wires
- Assist with preparation of 1099s
Perform month-end close activities, including but not limited to:
- Post payments from funds and payments to vendors
- Assist with journal entry preparation and posting
- Assist with accurate and timely completion of accounts payable month-end closing process
Perform other duties as requested or as responsibilities dictate
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of accounting experience
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting or Finance
- Solid foundation in accounts payable procedures and strong knowledge of accounting principles
- Highly proficient in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft office programs
- QuickBooks experience a plus
- Acute attention to accuracy and detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and manage priorities against key deadlines
Salary Range - $60,000 - $65,000
The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience. The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
