ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT DESIGNER

As a member of the HQ Construction & Engineering team you will be directly responsible for translating engineering and production requirements into executable plans. You will also manage and update campus maps and individual building drawings as the needs of the business evolve. You will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure that will enable orbital launch capability for the largest rocket in the world. This position is based in Hawthorne, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and modify preliminary equipment layouts based on customer input.
  • Produce documents to assist with securing construction contractor bids.
  • Create as-built documents for projects after completion of construction.
  • Integrate 3rd party vendor drawings into existing building drawing sets.
  • Convert files from Teamcenter, Sketch-up, BlueBeam, PDF, or others into AutoCAD.
  • Perform feasibility assessments of proposed projects from architectural, fire/life safety, structural, and MEP standpoint.
  • Provide baseline preconstruction services, including preliminary budget estimates/schedules.
  • Liaise end user project requests with external design consultants and internal construction/facilities groups.
  • Steer external design consultants towards completed construction plan sets for execution.
  • Coordinate permit acquisition/closeout with the City of Hawthorne.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience creating architectural construction documents including plans, elevations, sections, and details.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in construction, project management, and tenant improvement.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), concrete, framing, and industrial gas trade.
  • Able to read instructions and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of basic construction and engineering principles and methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The position requires long hours and some nights and weekends when needed
  • This position will work out of our Hawthorne, CA office.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range: 

Level I: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00/per year

Level II: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
