Associate Product Designer

We are seeking a talented Associate Product Designer to help our growing design team develop impactful digital experiences for our audience. You will be responsible for user interface and user experience design in collaboration with our Content, Product, SEO, and Engineering teams. This role optimizes all of our base site templates and user journeys through data-driven iterations. We are constantly seeking innovative ways to engage both prospective users and our loyal user base. Our design work utilizes industry UX standards and best practices, but always aims to push the envelope. Our team is a highly-collaborative, creative group that thrives off of solving complex problems.
What You'll Do:
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to tackle product challenges, identify user pain-points, and make recommendations to drive business goals
- Execute both interactive prototypes and static designs for both desktop and mobile platforms
- Optimize designs for click conversion, engagement, and other key business metrics
- Deliver designs that follow fundamentals & use established design systems effectively
- Bring fresh perspectives and iterate on new and existing user flows
- Utilize Figma for both medium-fidelity concepts and fully polished layouts
- Work with research to build prototypes to validate your designs, then iterate and innovate based on data and findings
- Present and share work with cross-functional teams to clearly communicate design rationale and the importance to end users
- Learn about the tech media space, our competitors, our gaps, and the culture of CNET and ZDNET
- Attend and participate in brainstorms, critiques, team standups, and project meetings
What We're Looking For:
- 1-3 years of design experience working on consumer-facing digital products
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, agile environment, managing your own time effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, SEO analysts, editorial staff, and others, to drive projects forward and achieve team, business, and user goals
- Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with design and business teams, framing problems and presenting solutions in a logical and compelling manner
- Demonstrate professional experience in designing websites, digital user interfaces, or interactive products that drive meaningful engagement
- Possess proficiency in Figma, with experience in the Adobe Creative Suite a plus
- Possess basic knowledge of design thinking, product strategy, user research, and user testing with a willingness to learn and grow in these areas
- Identify areas for personal improvement and seek feedback from colleagues to continuously improve your work
- Comfortable working with multiple brands and adhering to brand standards, adapting your work to meet the needs of each individual brand
Compensation
- New York City Cash Compensation Range: $55,000 - 93,000* *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
