CAFE LEAD 

SpaceX is searching for candidates who have superior experience working in culinary arts as well as coffee, espresso, and tea. This is a leadership position for an individual ready to steer a team to success in a fast-paced café environment inspired by hand crafted coffee beverages and delicious quick service meals. The current position is best suited for a leader with several years of barista experience who possesses hands on knowledge of coffee operations as well as high quality kitchen experience. They will support the mission by providing excellent customer service and quality food options that boost morale and productivity within SpaceX.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare a variety of coffee, tea, and other beverages
  • Adhere to proper safety guidelines at all times
  • Keep track of inventory/order supplies as needed
  • Assist in upkeep of the Café regularly
  • Act as point of contact for vendors and employees
  • Adjust staffing according to the day’s situation at hand
  • Assist in the organization and cleanliness of all on-site dining areas
  • Work with managers to plan services, menus, and production
  • Set and enforce standards of kitchen operations
  • Fill in at cooking stations as needed
  • Monitor quality and consistency of food products
  • Maintain clean and safe work stations throughout kitchen and work areas
  • Facilitate communication of team or station needs with staff
  • Plan/write menus, and create prep lists
  • Assist in administering training of all cook positions
  • Enforce proper food safety practices with staff
  • Coordinate and enhance time management for the team
  • Support ongoing staff development

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of work experience within food services or customer service
  • 3+ years of barista experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Culinary degree and/or 4+ years of industry experience
  • 1+ years of leadership experience
  • Possess a valid ServSafe or state issued Food Handler’s card
  • Ability to have a friendly and customer service oriented attitude
  • Experience being self-motivated and working well with others
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Experience with interpersonal, verbal, and written communication
  • Proficiency with operating an espresso machine
  • Experience with customer service
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Experience with time management
  • Proficient in all cooking methods, sauce making, and meat/vegetable preparations
  • Advanced knife skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and work in high volume output environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess, or be able to obtain, a manager level food safety certification
  • Experience with internal leadership and development training
  • Experience writing menus, prep lists, and creating orders effectively

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be physically capable of performing manual labor tasks (lifting up to 25 lbs.)
  • Ability to work in a standing position for four or more hours
  • Must be able to frequently bend and stoop
  • Ability to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:            

Pay range:         

Café Lead/Level 2: $19.50/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential    

Café Lead/Level 3: $20.50/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential    

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
