Blenheim Chalcot is one of the leading venture builders in the world. Headquartered in London from our flagship White City Scale Space campus, we have been building exciting and disruptive businesses for over 20 years. Blenheim Chalcot is responsible for building some of the most innovative companies in the UK and increasingly around the world – with significant operations in India and the US, as well as emerging operations in South Africa and South East Asia.

Our portfolio companies employ in excess of 4000 people, with the central BC team itself numbering 1,000 - and all are scaling up rapidly. Our assets under management are in excess of £1.5 billion.

We are heading into a period of ambitious scaling at Blenheim Chalcot and across our businesses, in existing and new geographies. As a result, we need a world class Chief Financial Officer to join one of our portfolio companies, an innovative consumer lending business. This is a truly pivotal role, and its impact will be fundamental to the development and growth of the company. This is a genuine opportunity for an individual to broaden their experience at an exciting time for Blenheim Chalcot.

THE ROLE

Key responsibilities include:

FP&A and Financial Strategy:

  • Develop and implement the Board’s financial strategy in alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Drive financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to the executive team for informed decision-making regarding pricing, profitability, and growth strategies.

 

Financial Control and Reporting:

  • Oversee financial control systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and shareholder reporting requirements.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly management accounts, KPIs, and financial statements, for presentation to the Board and stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide meaningful insights on key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive business performance and identify areas for improvement.

 

Working Capital & Treasury Management:

  • Manage and optimise working capital and treasury, including cash flow, accounts receivable, and payable, to maintain liquidity and support operational needs.
  • Develop strategies for effective treasury management, ensuring funding arrangements with institutional lenders are managed appropriately.
  • Monitor and mitigate financial risks through robust risk management practices and reporting.

 

Lender and Shareholder Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with institutional lenders, ensuring adherence to funding agreements and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with lenders to negotiate favourable financing terms and maintain a healthy capital structure.
  • Engage with shareholders and provide regular updates on financial performance, market trends, and investment opportunities.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • You will have experience operating in a matrix and constantly changing environment, and will have demonstrable experience navigating a fast paced, dynamic working environment.
  • You will display flexibility and a willingness to undertake regular monthly travel as a requirement of the position. 

 

Professional Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant with at least 10years industry experience
  • Experience as a CFO/FD in leading an end-to-end Finance function with sector experience in consumer lending is essential
  • You will have proven success serving as a true business partner to executive teams and experience of leading turnarounds and making big strategic choices
  • You will have experience identifying business opportunities, analysing the competitive landscape, and developing financial models that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy.
  • You will be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate and drive growth, and have the flexibility to adapt to a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • You will possess the business acumen and broad financial perspective to act as a strategic sounding board to the Senior Management Team.
  • You will have a demonstrable track record of overseeing both accounting and financial planning & analysis functions.
