The Global Data Protection team (“DPO team”) is responsible for designing and maintaining Deliveroo’s global data privacy program and compliance framework. We advise on privacy by design, liaise with regulators, provide guidance and training, and develop privacy compliant processes that have a real impact on our customers, riders and employees. This role focuses on our customer and employee processes and reports directly to the Global DPO. The DPO team sits within the Deliveroo Legal team and has a global reach. 

No two days are the same at Deliveroo. We’re looking for a Data Protection Analyst who’ll be a great fit in our large, experienced team and will thrive in our dynamic environment where we frequently improve, pave the way on privacy compliance and take on new challenges.

We’re looking to hire an experienced Data Protection Analyst to support the team, with a particular focus on responding to complex individual rights requests, coordinating and investigating escalated privacy complaints and supporting the development of training for the company as part of our ongoing improvement plans.

This is a hybrid position at our London HQ with 3 days per week in the office.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting the Data Protection team with their day to day operations.
  • Drafting a broad range of data protection team correspondence and procedures.
  • Drafting PIAs and DPIAs with support from DPO team colleagues.
  • Managing complex requests or complaints received via our DPO mailbox including;
    • Identification of contentious or high risk matters that require immediate escalation to senior team members, and support on associated research, fact finding, and internal investigative elements;
    • Coordinating and responding to complex data protection queries from the business;
    • Responding to privacy queries and/or complaints from customers, employees  and members of the public;
    • Management of requests for personal data from external governmental authorities, law enforcement and similar bodies; and
    • Identifying trends and patterns in requests and suggesting improvements to our processes to mitigate these.
  • Helping refine and streamline the processes that support our customer and employee data subject rights requests, alongside the privacy operations colleagues in our team.
  • Promoting and tracking the uptake of our company wide training and team-specific training courses, helping upskill key areas of the business on data protection matters.
  • Undertake research on privacy and data protection matters to equip the business with practical and insightful advice, fostering a proactive and empowered approach to decision-making.
  • Assisting the DPO team in compiling information to effectively respond to regulatory inquiries and  communication with regulatory bodies.
  • Project management, including preparing and maintaining tracker documents for monitoring progress of data subject rights and privacy complaints.
  • Working closely with our Tech, Privacy Legal, InfoSec, Employment Legal, Marketing, Commercial and other business teams. 

Experience Required: 

The successful applicant will be a strong performer and passionate colleague who is focussed on helping to ensure that the team successfully supports the business in its privacy compliance.

 We are also looking for candidates with the following characteristics:

  • Prior experience as a Data Protection Analyst, ideally in a large multinational organisation
  • Experience drafting concise, highly accurate responses to customer / employee enquiries and complaints;
  • Experience processing complex data subject requests;
  • Experience drafting and reviewing PIAs and DPIAs preferrably relating to consumer facing businesses or tech platforms; 
  • (Desirable) International Association Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certification CIPP/E or equivalent data protection qualifications;
  • (Desirable) Previous experience advising on global privacy compliance;
  • (Desirable) Experience with OneTrust
