Working within our best-in-the-business Data & Growth Strategy team, as a Data Scientist Intern, your primary purpose is to contribute to the development and performance enhancement of our failed payments model for YouFoodz and EveryPlate. You will work closely with the Data Science Manager to identify areas for improvement, engineer new features, and fine-tune the model parameters to optimise its predictive accuracy and reliability.

• Conduct comprehensive analysis of existing model performance and define improvement objectives
• Identify and engineer new features to enrich the model's predictive capability
• Fine-tune model hyperparameters to optimize performance using systematic approaches
• Evaluate enhanced model performance using appropriate metrics and validation techniques
• Document improvement process and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights and align with business objectives
• Stay updated on latest ML advancements and engage in continuous learning for skill enhancement

• Recently completed or pursuing a degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, with a strong focus on machine learning and data science
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, especially in standard data science libraries and frameworks
• Solid understanding of machine learning concepts, algorithms, and techniques, including feature engineering, hyperparameter tuning, and model evaluation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex challenges in model improvement effectively
• Previous experience building ML models
• Experience with Gradient Boosting algorithms such as XGBoost and CatBoost
• Experience with Data visualization tools (Tableau)
