Role: Design Director

About the role:

Working in close partnership with our client, the Design Director will be responsible for leading and creating impactful and engaging design solutions across a mix of channels. You’ll have a great track record of delivering high value craft and conceptual design and be keen to challenge the work. Applying your own creative initiative, you’ll be constantly pushing creative boundaries to deliver best in class design to inspire and engage the the client’s audience. 

What you will be doing:

 

  • Leading a team of designers, working closely with OLIVER’s Head of Design, Head of Copy, plus the the clients Marketing and Creative teams to produce stunning communications  
  • Hands on generating strong craft and conceptual design – with industry best practice 
  • Crafting award-worthy creative solutions for ATL, BTL and TTL campaigns – from branded toolkits to digital-first marketing activity 
  • Influencing and owning look-and-feel across all products in the client's brand portfolio 
  • Taking responsibility for the flow and quality of work produced – in a time-efficient manner 
  • Building tight, honest and robust partnerships with client stakeholders 
  • Handling multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment 
  • Being the brand, ensuring quality, accuracy and consistency 
  • Staying on top of industry trends in art, illustration and typography
  • You will be open and willing to attend sustainability training relevant to your role and soak up recommended research and reading about sustainability issue
  • You will contribute towards Oliver’s drive for sustainability and change. We’d hope anyone joining our team would share our motivation to do better in terms of sustainability. We are always learning, so we look forward to you bringing your own creative approaches to the tackling the industry's sustainability problem​
What you need to be great in this role:
  • If you are a Design Director who wants to take the next step on your career path.
  • You have an impressive portfolio and you’re a proactive, hands-on and independent creative thinker/craftsperson.
  • You’ve shown you can direct and lead both projects and people. And you’re interested in an opportunity to work in the client, via OLIVER’s in-house set up, to help them strengthen their brand and product presence in the competitive media landscape.
  • Obsessed with impactful graphics, typography, layout, communication hierarchy and idea generation
  • Strong communication skills that allow you to sell ideas in an effective way
  • Proactive, collaborative, can-do attitude with a determined work ethic
  • The ability to manage, lead, mentor and develop the careers of other designers
  • Excellent understanding of brand guidelines and graphic design principles
  • Familiarity with a range of channels and formats, including print and digital OOH, print ads, CRM, social media and online content
  • Ability to collaborate well with multiple stakeholders
  • Proactive, solutions-focus mindset with the strength to get to the heart of a brief quickly
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, plus Figma
  • A working knowledge of motion design and storyboarding is a bonus 
  • Keen sense of personal responsibility, for the quality control, presentation and accuracy of all work 
  • 5+ years’ experience as a design leader working in a marketing/design/advertising role
  • You can be the change - you prioritise environmental responsibility, social equity, and economic viability and how that translates into your day-to-day role
